MPSC exam takes place every year and is conducted by Maharashtra Public Service Commission.

Exam Pattern of MPSC Prelims 2024
- It is recommended that applicants check the MPSC Prelims Exam Pattern before moving into the MPSC syllabus. Pattern of the MPPSC Prelim Exam:
- It has two mandatory objective papers.
- Both of these papers have time duration of two hours each.
- The marks of both papers will be taken into account when selecting applicants for the main examination.
- For every wrong answer, there are negative marks for both Paper I and Paper II.
- Questions that aren’t attempted or unanswered won’t result in marks being deducted.
- In both Papers 1 and 2, there is a negative marking of one-third of the total marks allotted to that particular question.
- If the decision-making questions in Paper 2 are answered wrong, there is no penalty for that.
- The MPSC Prelim Exam is screening-based.
To be eligible to give the mains exam, candidates have to get the cutoff/ the minimum number of marks set by the commission. With the exception of those that assess the candidate’s command of English, every question is written in both Marathi and English

MPSC Syllabus for Prelims Paper 1
- Important current events related to state, national, and international level.
- Indian history and the Indian National Movement (with a special focus on Maharashtra).
- Physical, economic and social Geographical characteristics of Maharashtra, India, and the world.
- Polity and Governance in Maharashtra and India which should include Public Policy, Panchayati Raj, Political System, Rights Issues, and Urban Governance etc.
- Social and Economic development which includes factors like Sustainable development, demographics, poverty, inclusion, and social sector initiatives, etc.
- General questions related to biodiversity, climate change, and environmental ecology that don’t require academic expertise.
- And General Science
MPSC Syllabus for Prelims Paper 2
- General Comprehension Skills
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills
- Analytical ability & Logical reasoning
- Problem-solving & Decision-making
- General mental ability
- Class 10th level knowledge of numbers and their relationships, orders of magnitude, etc. And Class X level knowledge of data interpretation of tables, graphs, charts, and data sufficiency, etc.
- Class 10th and Class 12th Level Proficiency in Marathi and English language understanding. This type of question will use passages from the English and Marathi languages without cross-referencing them in the question paper.

Selection Process for MPSC 2024
To progress to the next stage, you have to pass each level. First you have to pass Pre Exam, after you have passed the Pre exam, you then become eligible to give Mains exam. On passing the Mains Exam you get eligible to give the interview.
