Important Dates and Events

The NTA JEE Main Examination conducting body has shared the major event dates.

Session 1 (January 2025)

  • The application form submission date is October 28, 2024, to November 22, 2024, up to 9:00 P.M.
  • The last date for successful transaction of the mandatory Application Fee is 22.11.2024 (Up to 11:50 P.M.)
  • The City Intimation Slip will be shared on the first week of January 2025 (tentatively).
  • The date of the exam will fall between 22 January and 31 January 2025.
  • Result declaration: 12 February 2025

Session 2 (April 2025)

  • The candidate can apply for the second session of the exam from 31 January 2025 to 24 Feb 2025 (up to 9:00 p.m.)
  • The deadline for paying the required application fee is February 24, 2025, at 11:50 p.m.
  • City Intimation Slip, Second week of March 2025
  • Exam dates: tentatively from April 1 to April 8, 2025
  • Result date: 17 April 2025

Note: The correction date of the application will be notified on the NTA website.

  • Candidates can download the admit cards from the NTA official website three days before the date of the examination.
  • Display of the question paper attempted by the candidate and answer keys for inviting challenges will be displayed on the NTA website.

Exam Pattern For NTA JEE Main

The exam NTA JEE Main is conducted in two major modes as per there paper type.

Computer-Based Test (CBT) and pen and paper (offline) mode.

  • Paper 1 of the examination covers the B.E. and B.Tech.-related queries in mode.
  • Paper 2A covers the B. Arch topics comprise three subparts: Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) are the CBT mode sections, whereas the Drawing Test is Part-III based on pen and paper (offline) mode, attempted on a drawing sheet of A4 size.
  • For the B. Planning paper, candidates need to apply for Paper 2B, which comprises three computer-based test sections: mathematics (Part-I), aptitude test (Part-II), and planning-based questions (Part-III).

Exam Schedule

The 2025 JEE (Main) will be conducted in two sessions, which also differ as per the duration of the exam.

  • The Paper 1 (B. E or B. Tech.), Paper 2A (B. Arch.) or Paper 2B (B. Planning) will be of 3 hours, whereas
  • Candidates who are giving B. Arch & B. Planning both have 03 hours 30 Minutes of exam duration.

Marking Scheme

The NTA JEE Main examination has set the following criteria for the marks as per the examination section type. Check the details for the further reference.

  • Every correct answer or the most appropriate answer will be awarded with 4 marks.
  • For each wrong answer on NTA JEE Mains, one mark will be deducted.
  • If the applicant didn’t answer or mark the option, then no mark will be given.
  • Only those applicants who have marked any of the correct options will receive four arks if multiple options are determined to be correct.
  • Similarly, if every answer is determined to be correct, everyone who tried the question will receive 4 marks.

Exam Centers

The exam center for the 2025 NTA JEE Main varies as per the medium of the examination applicant opted for. Check the list below for the reference of the exam center as per the paper medium. Although if the applicant chooses any other language than English, they will have the test booklet in English along with the opted language.

  • If the medium of language is English, Hindi or Urdu, the candidate can choose any of the examination centers in India.
  • English and Assamese Examination Centers in Assam
  • For the Bengali language NTA JEE Main 2025 paper, examination Centers in West Bengal, Tripura, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
  • Test language opted as Gujarati will have the examination centers in Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
  • For the Kannada language, the examination centers are in Karnataka.
  • Candidates who opted for Malayalam as the medium of examination will have their exam Centers in Kerala and Lakshadweep
  • For Marathi language, candidates will be offered the exam centers in Maharashtra
  • For the Odia language mode, the Exam Centers will be in Odisha
  • For the applicants who choose Punjabi, the examination centers are in Punjab, Chandigarh, and Delhi/New Delhi (including Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Noida and Greater Noida).
  • The Tamil opted language, Examination Centers in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands
  • For the Telugu Examination Centers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Eligibility criteria

Age Limit: There is no age limit criteria for the candidates applying for the 2025 NTA JEE Mains exam.

Education qualification for Joint Entrance Exam

Candidates who are applying for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) must have passed or appear for their 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the main subject.

  • The final examination of class 12th, conducted by any recognized central or state
  • Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; and more.
  • Intermediate or 2-year pre-university examination conducted by any government-recognized board or university.
  • Final year examination of the 2 year course of the Joint Services Wing of the NDA (National Defense Academy)
  • Candidate can have the qualified certificates or documents of the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) recognizes any public school, board, or university examination in India or abroad as equivalent to the 12th board or standard Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • A three-year diploma recognized by the AICTE or a state board of technical education.
  • GCE (General Certificate Education) examination from London, Sri Lanka or Cambridge at the Advanced (A) level.
  • Cambridge University’s High School Certificate Examination or the International Baccalaureate Diploma administered by the International Baccalaureate Office in Geneva.
  • Applicants who have completed the 12th class examination or equivalent qualification outside India or from a board unspecified above should provide a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the 12th standard examination.
  • If the 12th grade examination is not a public examination, then the applicant should have passed at least one public board or pre-university examination earlier.

Qualification for Admission

  • Candidates who want to take admission in B.E. or B.Tech. Courses must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry, Technical Vocational subjects, Biotechnology or Biology.
  • For the B.Arch. courses, the candidate should pass an examination at the end of the 12th scheme of examination with at least 50 percent. Aggregate scores in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry and also need to score at least 50 percent marks in aggregate of the 12th level examination, or applicants can also apply if they pass the 10+3 diploma examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with at least 45 percent marks in aggregate.
  • The B. Planning courses require the applicant to pass a qualifying examination with mathematics.

Number of attempt: candidates can apply or appear for the NTA JEE Mains paper for a maximum of 6 times over a period of 3 consecutive years after they complete their 12th standard board exams

Mode of Payment: The candidate can pay the fee for the NTA JEE Main 2025 test through credit card, debit card (except Master or Visa card), Net Banking or UPI.

Document requirement

  • Candidates need to upload a scanned signature file that should be named ‘Signature’ in a JPG or JPEG format, and it should be clearly visible in a file size between 10 kb and 50 kb.
  • A scanned copy of the 10th standard or equivalent certificate or mark sheet should be named ‘Class Certificate’ and should be a readable pdf file between 10 kb and 300 kb file size.
  • A scanned copy of Identity Proof (for candidates who will verify their identities using methods other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker) should be in JPG or JPEG format, and the file should be between 10 and 300 kb in file size. The file name should be in the following recommended format:

For PAN Card, the file name should be the same as the PAN Card Number.

For a passport (Indian or non-Indian), the file name should be the last four characters of the passport.

  • Candidates need to submit a scanned copy of the PwD, PwBD or UDID certificate, which should be named ‘PwDCertificate’ and should be in a readable pdf format between 10 kb and 500 kb.
  • Candidates must provide a recent passport-sized photograph in color that shows 80% of the face (without mask) and includes the ears against a white background. A photograph should be named ‘Photo’ and in JPG or JPEG format between 10 kb and 300 kb.

How to Apply?

To apply for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main), candidates need to register themselves first and then submit the application form. For the application procedure, check the details mentioned below for further assistance.

  • Visit the official website of the NTA (nta.ac.in).
  • On the students corner of the main page, click on the ‘Joint Entrance Examination’ session.
  • From the candidate activity tab or the public Notice session, the candidate can click for the registration form.
  • A new page will open for the registration form.
  • Register for the exam and note down the system-generated application number for the further procedure.
  • Now login with the pre-generated application number and password.
  • Read all the exam instructions.
  • Fill out the form with the general details (such as name, email ID., mobile number, and more).
  • Submit the form to generate OTP and begin with adding the other necessary details.
  • Add the necessary scanned document in the required format.
  • Select the exam type, center, choice of cities and more.
  • Provide educational qualification details and other additional information.
  • Recheck the details and pay the application fee for the exam.
  • Submit the form.

After completing the application form, the candidate will receive the confirmation mail on their registered email ID.

Is the NTA JEE Mains 2025 syllabus reduced?

The NTA JEE Main Syllabus 2025 will be released on the NTA’s official website, along with an updated information brochure. However, there are no major changes in the NTA JEE Mains 2025 syllabus. Although the NTA JEE Main 2025 exam pattern has changed (Section B of each subject now has only 5 mandatory questions; no choices of question are provided).

What are the changes in NTA JEE Main 2025?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a significant change to the NTA JEE Main 2025 exam pattern, returning to its pre-pandemic format. Section B will now contain only 5 questions per subject, and it is mandatory for the applicants to attempt all five questions from the NTA JEE Main 2025 Examination.
